Babylon feel it The system is over We can't take it no longer The system is a failure It must go down Take it from the needy Just to feed the greedy How much longer Could this go on Babylon feel it You have the power In your ivory tower But we're getting stronger And we are millions One day the poor will have nothing left to eat, but the rich One day the poor will have nothing left to eat, but the rich Promise us better Over and over But we have eyes And we can see You're swimming in your dollars While all a we a suffer One day craven A go choke puppy One day the poor will have nothing left to eat, but the rich One day the poor will have nothing left to eat, but the rich Left, right, left, right...

about

The "Abeng" is the third riddim released on Soul of Anbessa records. With always the same philosophy : vintage sounding roots, strictly acoustic, recorded in the best jamaican studios with legendary foundation musicians : Derrick Stewart on drums, Boris Gardiner on bass, Dwight Pinkney on guitar and Robbie Lyn on piano.
Once the riddim - called "Abeng", the name of the horn used by the Maroons to warn their people - was recorded, it has been voiced by some legendary roots artists. Each version has different overdubs, and different mixes.
All the versions gathered here were first released on vinyl (two 12", one 7"). They're available for the first time on digital format.

It was created with one aim : releasing roots music with a conscious message, played by live musicians, as well as trying and finding back the lost sound of the golden era of the genre. ... more
